Are you looking for a migraine expert to help you cope with your migraines? After over 26 years of suffering from them (and a master's degree in counseling + 20 years experience), I feel I am more equipped to be a migraine coach and pain management counselor than most.
Imagine this …. you’re at work, it’s about 10:30 in the morning and you are having a Kit Kat bar for morning coffee break. You hop online to check your emails and you feel a strange sense of panic arising. And then nausea.
Not sure of what is going on, you head for the bathroom. With just a few steps your head starts to throb and the sunlight pierces your eyes from the huge ceiling to floor windows. Will you make it to the bathroom?
"I will die from embarrassment if I throw up right here." You quicken your pace. Everything is going fuzzy. You just make it to the ladies’ room and the rest is a blur.
Does this sound familiar to you?
That was my first migraine. I remember it like it was yesterday.
I also remember throwing up on the way home and trying not to fall overboard on the ferry.
That was over twenty years ago. I knew nothing about migraines back then.
Do you calmly wonder when the pain will end and relax into bed with an ice pack? Or are you more like me and worry yourself sick that you are going to die?
Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
The bad news is that migraine is a medical condition that has no cure. You will need new coping skills.
The good news is that there are some really effective migraine abortive and preventative medications on the market today.
There are also some helpful alternative treatments that work. And I can teach you some really effective coping skills.
Plus it is really really really rare to die from having a migraine attack.
Today we have a better chance at finding what works than five or ten years ago. My journey started with seeing a psychiatrist, after being told it was all in my imagination.
We have come a long way since then. Information and education is key to survival. Remember:
Do you ask yourself these questions?
How can I:
How will I:
Will I ever:
Some of these can feel pretty scary so it's nice to have some support from a migraine coach who can help find answers with you.
Here are some things I've developed and written to help you build your resilience muscles right now, so you can become a migraine expert asap:
If you are struggling with overwhelming emotions, or if you’re being forced to make major decisions (due to relentless chronic attacks) that you just don’t want to make… consider the book.
It details a process to help you manage attacks long term, and covers essential pain management information to help prevent your next attack.
If you are struggling with breakthrough pain even when you take medication… consider the course. You will learn all about getting your timing right.
Plus there's nothing to lose, it's free to enroll - Migraine Pain Management Course.
Even if you already have a pain management strategy set up with your doctor, specialists, and other therapists, you may still want some professional emotional support and guidance from a migraine expert / migraine coach.
I have other courses to help too:
