The Continuing Pursuit for Migraine Elimination and Pain Reduction

I’ve just decided to do a migraine elimination diet to see if, over the years, my food sensitivities have changed. I know it sounds crazy because it will take five to twelve weeks to reintroduce the foods, but with this step by step elimination diet e-course it will be much easier.

What I Have Learned Already

What are Inflammatory Foods?

Surviving chronic migraines means you need to experiment with food. It is probably the first thing your doctor had you do after you were diagnosed. Or at the very least s/he will have told you to avoid any foods that trigger an attack.

Well that has been easier said than done for me over the years. I have already wined about my experiment years ago, but I was really on my own then.

This elimination diet e-Course might just be the answer to the puzzle of how to eliminate your migraines. You could dramatically reduce the severity and or the frequency of them. Yes - it feels good to take back control.

I want to share the first thing I thought was amazing in this course – not just that it seems easy to use and I was able to understand all the facts she presented but the unknowns. I thought I knew all the migraine safe foods by now.

Some things on the list of inflammatory foods took me by surprise. Migraines are an inflammatory condition so we must be aware of these food groups, as per Dr. Amy Myers:

Citrus: orange, grapefruit, lime (except lemon)

Corn: Whole corn, corn starch, corn tortillas

Dairy: Milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, ice cream, whey protein, casein, ghee, kefir

Eggs: Whole eggs, egg whites, egg yolks, egg protein, gluten free breads with eggs

Gluten: wheat, rye, barley, spelt, or medications with gluten

And these well known migraine triggers – the dreaded nightshades:

Nightshade Vegetables: Tomatoes, white potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers

Ok, the list continues, but I recommend doing this elimination diet yourself if you haven’t already. I love learning, and I tell myself I am never too old to learn new things. And it might mean the difference between achieving more happiness with migraine free days and just suffering needlessly.

Essential Migraine Tools

Building resilience all starts with having a plan. A pain management plan. This is one of my favorite articles called Your Migraine Prevention Kit to use when you need it most. Feel free to add your tips in the Facebook comments box at the end of the page.

I'd like to recommend reading Cynthia Perkin's Mindfulness Over Migraines e-book that explains the science behind mindfulness and why it helps migraines. And she explains the method step by step that she uses to eliminate her migraines in 15 minutes. Yes, you read that correctly ... eliminate in 15 minutes. It will be the best $6.99 you ever spend!

Timing is everything when aborting a migraine attack.

Build Your Own Migraine Tool Kit - Here is our article with eleven steps on exactly how to do it yourself! It has all the forms you need to print out and step by step instructions to navigate your way through effective chronic pain management.

And now I am adding Dr. Amy Myers Elimination Diet eCourse to our essential tool kit.

Share Your Migraine Stories

Remember that your contribution will help others too! We are not in this alone, even though it feels like it most of the time. Our stories and input can help each other. For example, I heard about Naramig from a Shiatsu patient of mine, not my doctor or any of the specialists I had seen! Two years after triptans came on the market. Two years of needless suffering.

This is a safe place to share your challenges and tell your story to people who truly understand what you are going through. Feel free to share your art to inspire us all in our time of need and find solutions with new treatment ideas specific to migraine disease. Get some professional health advice from others that walk this path. Just click on the links underlined above if you would like more details.
