Ways To Reduce Stress

Is Stress A Migraine Trigger For You?

This month’s topic is about stress. I thought it timely with Christmas just around the corner.

This time of year can bring us great joy to be around the ones we love, it can also cause more tension and stress.

Having to be around the relatives you only see once a year can be challenging. Aunt Mary who drinks too much and always reminds you of your shortcomings. Cousin Shelley who knows exactly what you should be doing to cure yourself of migraines!

Living with a chronic illness like migraine can make this time of year particularly difficult – more food triggers, more drinking, more bright lights, more socializing (more perfume), etc.

It can also bring depression for some who have lost loved ones, or who've lost contact with beloved family members. Grieving the loss of your hopes and dreams, due to chronic illness can also seem to be triggered more around the festive season.

So with all of that in mind, let’s look at a few ways to manage your stress better this festive season.
